She was the grandaughter of Jabez Landers and Hannah Herrington of Albany County, New York and later of Yonge Township, Leeds County, Ontario, Canada. Jabez Landers served in the Albany County Militia, New York Fourth Regiment during the Revolution and was later recognized as a Loyalist in Canada to receive land for himself and children. The Landers line dates to 1635 when Thomas Landers came from England to Massachusetts aboard the Abigail. Intermarriges were with Kirby and Freeman families.
