Josephine Rykowski attended school until about the eighth grade in Granville, N.Y. Before she married, she worked in Passiac, N.J. as a sewing machine operator while she lived with her uncle there. Once married, she lived her entire life on the Durham farm, tending to the daily tasks of a farm wife. She was a good cook and liked gardening, sewing, and shopping with her sister Frances. Josephine married Wilson Frederic Durham, son of Frederick Durfee Durham and Margaret E. Spoor, on 26 Jun 1935 in Granville, Washington, NY. (Wilson Frederic Durham was born on 11 May 1909 in Hebron, Washington, NY, died on 23 May 1989 in Glens Falls, Warren, NY and was buried in New Hebron Cemetery, Hebron, NY.)
