Nathan3 Bourne (Elisha,2 Richard1), born 31 Aug. 1676, died in Sandwich in 1770.

He married there, 3 Feb. 1697/8, Mary4 Bassett (May­flower Descendant, vol. 29, p. 30), born 20 Oct. 1676, died 18 Dec. 1733, daughter of William3 and Rachel (Willison) Bassett of Sandwich.

This is the Nathan Bourne listed as a Sandwich householder in Fessenden's list of 1730. He owned the Charming Betty, the first packet, 1717, between Boston and Sandwich. As his will shows he owned extensive property in both Sandwich and Hanover. He was a shipwright by trade. He and his wife were members of the Sandwich Church, where "Maria, Jonathan, Elizabeth, John, Nathan, Elisha, Mary & Thomas Bourne," all their children, were baptized 6 April 1718.

The will of "Nathan Bourne of Sandwich," dated 23 July 1761 and proved 23 Nov. 1770, gives all real property and most of his personal estate, to "my sons John & Thomas Bourne and my grand son Elisha Bourne," they to pay all debts, "equally between them." To "my daugh­ter Mary Tupper, one third my household goods. To my grand daughters, Abigail Smith & Mary Dillingham, children of my daughter Eliza­beth, deceased, one third my household goods. To my grand son John Freeman my snake pond sheep pasture lot, which is in partnership with Micah Blackwell and one third my household goods. To my grand son John Dillingham, $1. To my two grand daughters. Maria Nye and Abigail Bourne, daughters of my son Jonathan Bourne, deceased, $1 each. To my grand-daughter Eunice Clark $l. To my grand daughter Remember Ellis, $1. To my grand son Stephen Bourne my Great Bible and my gun." Sons John and Thomas Bourne to be executors.
