General Notes: The husband of the above Elizabeth died doubtless abt. 1677; for at that time his estate was being administered by "his widow, and son Mordecai." In the letter of admn. "the late husband" is called "John Ellis, Jr." We cannot, however, discover from aught on the records that he was not senior of all of the name of John Ellis found therein. In 1659 he is mentioned as "Lieutenant John Ellis," and "kept an ordinary in Sandwich." His descendants are numerous, widely dispersed, and highly respectable.
