We place this man here because in the 1790 Census of Rochester he is listed with a family of 1 male over 16, 1 under 16 and 4 females, together with the three known sons of John4 Ellis, namely, John, Joshua and Thomas. Furthermore the father's lands are described as bordering upon Dartmouth, and we think it likely that the Bristol County deeds will show that the son Luke received land there from his father at the time the others received property in Plymouth.
