Patience Blackwell
General Notes: Patience,4 b. 4 Oct. 1717; d. in Little Compton, R. I., 14 April 1795; m. 11 Jan. 1738/9 Rev. Jonathan4 Ellis (intention published in Plymouth, May. Des., 18:30), b. in Sandwich 1 May 1717, d. in Little Compton 7 Sept. 1785, son of John3 and Sarah (Holmes) Ellis. He was a Harvard graduate and in 1748 took a pastorate in Little Compton. The Sandwich records show: "11 March 1749/50-voted to dismiss Patience Ellis (once Blackwell) ye wife of ye Rev. mr. Jon[th] Ellis & recommend to ye Chh. of Christ in Littlecompton" (The Register, 111:29, January 1957). Nine children. [Michael Blackwell of Sandwich, Mass. (c. 1620-1710) by Lydia B.
