General Notes:
AZOR4 PERRY (Eliakim,3 Benjamin,2 Ezra1), born 12 Dec. 1755, died in Middletown, Vt., testate, 15 Nov. 1824. He married in Middletown (then Tinmouth), 28 April 1781, MARY HILL, born in December 1762, died in Middletown 2 June 1803.
He seems to have moved first from Norwich to the area which in 1822 became the town of Orange, Conn. (Vermont Historical Gazetteer, vol. 3, p. 799). Doubtless he accompanied his father and brothers to the area then in dispute between New Hampshire and New York, which later became Bennington, Vt. According to Mrs. Bristol (op. cit.) he enlisted from Bennington in the Continental service and after the war settled in Middletown. He purchased land there in 1777 and in the spring of the following year took possession of his land (Vermont Historical Gazetteer, vol. 3, p. 799). The 1790 Census lists him in Middletown with a family of 1 male over 16, 2 under 16 and 4 females. [Ezra Perry of Sandwich, Mass. (c. 1625-1689), By Lydia B. (Phinney) Brownson, of Buzzard's Bay, Mass., and Maclean W. McLean, of Pittsburgh, Pa., NEHGS 115 (1960)]
