LT. DAVID4 PERRY (Eliakim,3 Benjamin,2 Ezra1), born in Norwich, Conn., 8 Aug. 1741 (Norwich Vital Records), died in Windsor, Vt., 2 May 1826. He married in Killingly, Conn., about 1764, ANNA BLISS, born there 1 April 1740, died in Windsor 12 Sept. 1835.
Mrs. Bristol (op. cit., vol. 44, p. 334) says he enlisted in the Revolution in Connecticut, and settled after the war in southern Vermont. The 1790 Census lists him in Shrewsbury, Vt., with a family of 1 male over 16, one under 16 and one female.
In November 1776 the Connecticut Assembly voted to raise four battalions for the Continental Service to serve until March 1777. David Perry was appointed 1st Lt. in the Fourth Battalion under Col. John Ely, Payne Converse, Jr., Captain (Charles G. Hoadley, ed.. The Public Records of the State of Connecticut from October 1776 to February 1778, 1894, vol. 1, p. 69). It is said that before finally settling in Chelsea, Windsor Co., Vt., he lived in Rehoboth, Mass., as well as in Killingly. [Ezra Perry of Sandwich, Mass. (c. 1625-1689), By Lydia B. Death date from Perry. Enlisted in the War of Revolution in Connecticut and was 1st Lt. in the Fourth Battalion under Colonel John Ely. Lived in Rehoboth and Killingly before settling in Chelsea, Vermont. Brownson, NEHGR 116:37 says he was born in Norwich (but note that Eliakim was said to have moved to Norwich after 1746). 1790 census lists him in Shrewsbury, VT, with a family of 1 male over 16, one under 16, and one female. David5 Perry (Eliakim4, Benjamin3, Ezra2, Edmund1) was born in Norwich, New London, Conn August 8, 1741.
He married Rebecca Bliss in Killingly, Windham, Conn, January 12, 1764. Rebecca was born in Killingly, Windham, Conn December 20, 1744. She was the daughter of John Bliss and Rebecca Whittaker. [Awerkamp homepage]
