General Notes:
GILBERT5 PERRY (Solomon,4 Elisha,3 John,2 Ezra1) was born in Ridgefield, Conn., 9 July 1752. He married perhaps about 1772 MARY (called MOLLY) SALMON. He was given, in his father's will, land bounded South by the testator's mother's land, also land the testator purchased from his mother, as well as 4 acres in "the Oblong" (i.e. property across the New York border in what then was Dutchess County, now Putnam County). It is probable that Gilbert Perry, like his next younger brother Freeman Perry, served in the Continental Militia during the Revolution. At the final distribution of his father's estate, 16 June 1787, there was "set off to Gilbert Perry son to the said Solomon Perry" one-half acre of the home lot, including the dwelling house, an acre of woodland on the Mountain, and 9s. in moveable estate. The 1790 Census, however, shows Gilbert Perry in Rensselaerwyck, Albany Co., N. Y., with a family of 2 males over 16, 2 under 16 and 1 female. That his wife was the "daughter, Molly Perry, wife of Gilbert Perry," named in the will of Reuben Salmon of Ridgefield, is yet to be confirmed. [Ezra Perry of Sandwich, Mass.
