He married 24 Dec. 1787 Deborah Pope "of Plymouth" (May. Des., vol. 29, p. 129; Sandwich Town Records).
A deed dated 17 June 1816 records that Benjamin Gibbs of Sandwich sold various parcels of land in Plymouth which he had bought from members of the Blackwell family in 1797, as well as lots which he had owned in common with his brothers through inheritance from his father Jabez Gibbs, his wife Deborah releasing her dower rights (Sandwich Town Book, Barnstable Deed Registry, vol. 1, p. 111).
