General Notes:
Thomas5 Bourne (Job,4 Eleazer,3 Job,2 Richard1), born 24 Dec. 1739, died in Sandwich 14 Jan. 1813, "aet. 72."
He married there, first, 22 March 1764, Abigail5 Bourne, born 4 Jan. 1743, died 6 Nov. 1808, daughter of John4 and Deborah (Dillingham) Bourne (No. 26); and secondly, after 1809, Hannah ----.
The will (q. v.) of John4 Bourne, his first wife's father, names this Thomas5 Bourne his contingent executor. The instrument provides that if the testator's son, Edward Bourne, should permanently be proscribed as a Tory, then John6 Bourne (son of Thomas5) would become the principal legatee.
The will of "Thomas Bourne ... of Sandwich, gentleman" gives "to my wife Hannah Bourne the improvement of one-third of my real estate … while my widow, … and all the beds and furniture that was brought with her to my house after our marriage ... to my four daughters: Mary Swift, Deborah Chandler, Lydia Perry and Abigail Perry - $60. each and my household goods to be divided between them, excepting my clock which I give to my daughter Abigail Perry ... to my two grandchildren, Deborah Bourne and Lury Bourne, daughter and son of my son Alvin Bourne, deceased $4. between them ... to my son John Bourne ... 40 acres adjoining Doctor Bourne and one half my real Estate and personal estate ... to my son Job Bourne" (to whom he gives the rest of his real and personal property). He appointed "my son in law Elisha Perry and my son John Bourne, executors" this 12 Jan. 1813. Witnesses: Elisha Perry, Daniel Perry, Solomon Raymond. The inventory was presented 7 April 1813 (Barnstable County Probate, vol. 37, p. 92).
That the widow was deceased before 21 Feb. 1820 is suggested by the fact Elisha made final distribution on that date (ibid., vol. 40, p. 246). [The Rev. Richard1 Bourne of Sandwich, Mass. (c. 1610-1682) by Lydia B. (Phinney) Brownson and Maclean W. McLean, NEHGR 118-9, 1964-5]
