DELIVERANCE, b. 10 Nov. 1778; m. 26 Nov. 1801 JOHN BOURNE, b. in 1774, son of Thomas and Abigail Bourne. William Root Bliss, Colonial Times on Buzzard's Bay tells how Deliverance Perry set out on her bridal journey from the house of her father, Miller John, riding pillion behind her bridegroom, enroute to her new home on the north side of Monument River. When the bridal couple reached the ford the tide was high and they were obliged to wait "since Dilly did not like to wet her feet."

"Dilly" set out on her bridal journey from her father’s (Miller John) house, riding pillion behind her bridegroom John Bourne.
