William Green

  General Notes:

William3 Green (William,2 William1), born July 17, 1721, removed to Chatham, Middle Haddam Society, July 25, 1742, that being the date of his dismission from the church at Barnstable to the church at Middletown; hence it is concluded he was not the man who married Mary Conant at Barnstable in October, 1745. He married first, at Middletown, June 28, 1750, Marcy Knowles, who died June 29, 1768, aged 38; and he married second, January 25, 1770, Elizabeth Young of Middle Haddam. He died of consump­tion, August 15, 1775, aged 53. His widow died of small-pox, February 24, 1778. [The Greene Family of Plymouth Colony by Richard Henry Greene, NEHGR 57, 1903]

William married Mercy Knowles, daughter of Capt. Cornelius Knowles and Elizabeth Remick, on 28 Dec 1749 in Chatham, Middlesex, CT.²⁷⁰ (Mercy Knowles was born about 1730 in Eastham, Barnstable, MA ²⁷⁰ and died on 29 Jun 1768 in Chatham, Middlesex, CT ^270,1411.)
