General Notes: ELEAZER, b. about 1692; d. in 1749; m. 14 Sept. 1732, his second cousin, DEBORAH3 LANDERS, b. in Sandwich 4 Dec. 1702, daughter of Thomas2 and Deborah (Freeman) Landers. If there were children by the marriage, they did not survive. Nathan3 Landers conveyed by deed, dated 13 May 1732, land in Rochester which was under an entail to his widowed mother, under the terms of which the grantee, David Besse, upon the death of the widow Deborah (Freeman) Landers was to pay £5. each to the grantor's sisters; Deborah and Jane (Plymouth County Deeds, vol. 27, p. 107). This Deborah3 Landers witnessed the will, dated 6 June 1737, of John Perry, but when she made oath to the instrument, 6 Nov. 1732, she is described as "Deborah Landers now Ellis." The will, dated 3 March 1748/9, of "Eleazer Ellis of Sandwich, yeoman," gives "to my beloved wife Deborah" the use and improvement of all the estate while she remained his widow and if she marry, her dower according to law. "After the expiration of my wives terms in my Estate, then I give & bequeath the whole of my sd personal Estate … to the three daughters of my cousin Josiah Ellis of Sandwich, yeoman, namely Deborah, Elizabeth and Mary so called, ... to them & their heirs and assigns to be equally divided between them. To my sd cousin Josiah Ellis his heirs and assigns ten acres of land lying near his house ... in consideration of which gift I order sd Josiah ... to pay to my cousin Benjamin Ellis of sd Sandwich, blacksmith £30 .... [and] ... after my wives term … my real Estate to be equally divided between the sd Josiah Ellis, Mordecai Ellis & Stephen Ellis, yeomen." He made said Josiah Ellis sole executor (Barnstable County Probate, Book 8, p. 341). [Lt. John & Elizabeth (Freeman) Ellis of Sandwich, Mass by Lydia B. Mclean, of Pittsburg, PA] Noted events in his life were: Eleazer married Deborah Landers, daughter of Thomas Landers and Deborah Freeman, on 14 Sep 1732 in Sandwich, Barnstable, MA 5,8,34,47,65.,208 (Deborah Landers was born on 4 Dec 1702 in Rochester, Plymouth, MA 5,8,9,14,65,208 and died before 5 May 1760 47.)
