William Carpenter
General Notes: (IX) William (3), third son of William (2) Carpenter, born in 1576, was a carpenter by trade and resided in London, He rented tenements and gardens in Houndsditch. Being a Dissenter, he was driven to Whirwell to escape persecution, and took the opportunity to join his sons in emigrating to America. He was not contented on this side, however, and returned to England in the ship which brought him. [Family History of Central NY, Vol. III, Central New York Family Histories, pages 1317-21] Noted events in his life were: • Emigration, 1638, on the Bevis. 148 • Occupation: carpenter. 148 William married Alice [Unknown] in Aug 1604 in Old Salisbury Parish, England.148 |
