  General Notes:

Amos4, b. ca. 1728; d. Falmouth, probably shortly before 8 Aug. 1789, evidently s.p. His father gave him one fourth of the real estate by will. The Falmouth town records show that he performed various minor public duties; he signed several Friends’ marriage certificates, but we have found no evidence that he married, or how his land was distributed at his death. A court order, dated 15 Aug 1789, is directed "To Reuben Landers of Falmouth and to the heirs and near relations of Amos Landers, late of sd Falmouth, deceased, intestate, you are hereby asked to appear... pursuant to the within letter I have served the same by reading it to Reuben Landers, Prince Landers and John Landers... per me, Juda Eldredge". This was apparently the response to a letter dated 9 July 1789, "This is to inform the Honr Judge of probate that the subscribers hereof are not willing to administer upon the estate of Amos Landers, late of Falmouth. We think Judah Eldredge to be a very suitable man to undertake it". This was signed by Reuben, Prince and John Landers (Barnstable County Probates, 23:61). [Lydia B. (Phinney) Brownson and Maclean W. McLean, "Thomas1 Landers of Sandwich, Mass.," NEHGR 124:213]
