There is a deed dated 9 February 1813 (Book S, p. 46, recorded 16 July 1814) stating that Isaac Foote Jr., Sheriff of Chenango Co., by virtue of a writ of the Court of Common Pleas of Chenango Co., dated 9 February, 1813, to seize goods and chattels of William Guthrie to levy $100.54 damages and costs, and also a writ of lein issued by the Supreme Court 16 January 1813, at the suit of Joseph Greene to seize the chattels, lands, etc. of same to levy $328.07 damages and costs, has seized part of lot no. 57, bounded in part by Thomas Landers totalling 2 ¼ acres, and another part of the same lot, also bounded in part by Thomas Landers, and also totalling 2 ¼ acres, and sold them for $18.00 to Thomas Landers, the highest bidder. This Joseph Greene has not been identified, and no relationship is known. It is interesting to note that a Joseph Greene is listed as one of the bounds in David Greene’s original purchase from Simpson Ellis.

Also, on 22 July 1809, Anson Cary, Sheriff of Chenango, sold for $64.33 to Thomas Landers, other lands in lot no. 57, seized in a judgement against Edmond Cook...

On 22 June 1814 (Book S, p. 148, recorded 16 July 1814) selling for $130 to Thomas Landers, 7 ¾ acres bounded by Thomas Landers and also by David T. S. Greene [sold to John King Seldon Greene and Eliner his wife]...

By 1835 it apparently occurred to David Greene and his heirs that the interposition of the name John Selden - a living person and relative of David’s, whose name David had used with or without permission, might create a break in the title chain. So an additional sale of the property was recorded, dated 12 June 1835 (Book ZZ, page 511, recorded 16 March 1836) by John Selden of Bath, Steuben Co., N. Y., to Thomas Landers and John R. S. Greene (R. is probably a mis-reading for K.) both of Bainbridge, Chenango Co. The property is described as beginning at SW corner of lot no. 54, E. along S. line of lot to land of Thomas Landers, N. 80 rods, W. to W. line of lot, S. 80 rods to place of beginning, containing 100 acres. On 28 November 1835, John Selden (probably David Greene) appeared before George C. Edwards, Supreme Court Commissioner for the County, together with Jonathan Selden (another cousin of David’s, John Selden’s brother, which Jonathan was the only witness of this deed) "which Jonathan was personally known" to the Commissioner and which Jonathan being duly sworn testified that he (Jonathan) resided in Bath and that he knew the said John Selden and that he was the person described in the instrument, which satisfied the Commissioner. Then John Selden acknowledged the said conveyance as his free act and deed...

Thomas Sanders (mistake for Landers) appears in the 1850 census as aged 66, born in Mass., and Sepha aged 54, born in Vermont...

Justin or Justus Greene; b. Goshen, 13 Oct. 1794; married before 1820 and probably dead within the next year, leaving widow Sepha (Sophia?), later nicknamed Leffy, who apparently married secondly Thomas Landers (probably as his second wife), and living in 1850, aged 54, born in Vermont...

Thomas Landers, b. ca. 1793; d. June 1865 (from g.s. - West Bainbridge Cemetery) - apparently Landers had no surviving children, left everything to widow and to Truman Green, except for small bequests to other Landers persons, probably nephews...

Mrs. Albert Phillips, of Norwich, N. Y., has received a collection of Landers family genealogical records. Among the items is an old note book, in which is the following entry: (under Children of Ebenezer and Olive Landers)

"Thomas Landers, b. 1782 married Esther Hinman of Afton who died March 20, 1830. He married second Lepha (Larabee) Green, b. 1796, d. Jan. 11, 1884." No children are listed for either wife. ["David T. Selden Greene," National Genealogical Society Quarterly, vol. 52, 1964]
